Thank you for attending our Food Pantry Open House at the end of the Fall 2022 semester. We would like to congratulate you on your new role and invite you or someone from your team as a guest advocate for our Criminal Justice Reform Dinner on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, from 5:30-7:30pm in Viking 123 behind Starbucks. The dinner will provide Salem State University students with an opportunity to learn and connect with local advocates on this social issue over a catered meal. We typically compensate our advocates $100, and while we know that you are likely unable to accept this, we are willing to donate the amount to an organization of your choice instead. If you are interested, here are some of the questions we would like to have our advocates think about to share with students: How the criminal justice system is impacting our communities and why reform work is necessary. Efforts you and your team are taking to ensure our community has access to support navigating the criminal justice system. How students can be a part of the solution to assist with positive reform in the criminal justice system. Your trajectory to a career focused on criminal justice reform. Advice you would give to students with similar career aspirations or interests in engaging in advocacy work on this important topic. Sharing any relevant legislation, you are advocating for, if applicable. Provide other relevant information about the great work that you (and your agency) do in the community and the successes and challenges you have faced. Thank you for your consideration! If you are interested, Kate Adams will reach out with a structure for the event.
